CBD is a compound found in the hemp plant alongside other cannabinoids such as THC or CBG. We extract this cannabinoid from the plant in order to infuse it into products: CBD oils, CBD gummies, CBD e-liquids, and more. When extracted, it can be turned into 3 different types of CBD extracts.
CBD is thought to interact with the human endocannabinoid system; a biological system that produces cannabinoids and fires them around the body. The endocannabinoid system is vital for our health; it regulates many functions, including sleep, mood, pain, and more. Research suggests that CBD interacts with CB2 receptors within this system, which could help it to function more effectively. Many CBD researchers believe that taking CBD oil and other CBD products could help to enhance the natural levels of cannabinoids in the body, creating a healthy abundance. Therefore, the reported effects of CBD tend to revolve around the functions of this system: sleep, mood, pain, etc.
There are 3 different types of CBD extracts that you will find in products throughout the UK: full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolate.
Full Spectrum CBD
This contains all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids and plant terpenes found in hemp, including THC.
Broad Spectrum CBD
This contains all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids and plant terpenes found in hemp, excluding THC.
This contains no other naturally occurring cannabinoids or plant terpenes: only pure CBD.
Depending on the extract used in a CBD product, the effects felt may be slightly different. Full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD can produce something called the CBD entourage effect, whereas CBD isolate will not. Click here to find out what ‘entourage effect’ means. At Honest Hemp, none of our products contain full-spectrum CBD, as we believe in being 100% THC free. Read on to find out why.
